St Albans has provided us with some good results recently. The numbers are a little lower than I would expect but there is some quality none the less. Burleigh has already received his pull, Peter-Budge is unlikely to be running due to injury.

Cast your vote.

The St Albans surface can be tough to handle, might explain a few absentees this week.

Final:

Boulton 6
This kid has been ultra impressive and another final is on the cards. Think he will just miss out on a podium finish though.

Green 6.75
Been on many a watch list but his seemingly nonchalant style drew some unwanted attention at Daylesford. Right in the mix and will salute soon. Top 3 finish and most likely winner.

R. Lugo 8
There was once a time when Lugo's little legs would struggle to run out a 120. Has really improved over the last couple of years but was disappointing at Rye. Perhaps he spent too much time working out what questionable jacket to wear... Think he will freshen up here and make the final easily. Won't win yet.

Burleigh 9
The chef was impressive at Rye and won by a margin. Only comes back a metre and good enough to go back to back. Surely waits for a tilt at an easter final with 10 in the bank though. Should read up on the story of Icarus, could well fly too close to the sun...

Vi 10.5
In good shape this season and has shown that not all muscle men enjoy apple krumble. Will be disappointed with his efforts at Rye and will be looking to make amends here. Top 3 finish.

Rosen 14.75
The Rosenator improved at Rye and will be eyeing off a final here. Can't see him holding on though. Might find a metre or two if Bill Clinton fires him up...

Ireland also a chance to final and stablemate Adams has been improving. The latter has 6m in the 70, will surely cash that in soon.

Notable absentees:
'Big Show' Bailey - was impressive last week and will be looking for a Stawell lift at some stage. Would have won if he ran here, easing up with 15m to go with his chest puffed out. The question is, is he as good as he thinks he is? Probably not possible...
Punchihewa - Has made plenty of finals and due for a win. A week off might be of benefit.

Nothing like rain water from the top-end.

Looking forward to seeing the Randy Rosenator pumping those hammies and holding everyone off this week. The grade A shockers should hold up well on the undulating surface that is the Gift track.

Bill Clinton has no chance this week against the big boy # game over

Snuck out of the oval office today to do the form for this one. Monica's favourite colour is green, coincidence? I think not. doubt he runs however. looks a story of two runners here Chris Vi vs Timothy Rosen, certainly not a page turner. Don't worry about the rollercoaster straight track, the 300 open will be the race of the night.

Hey Bill, what’s wrong with myself and Chris Vi? You just can’t help yourself 🤦‍ Also I think there will be plenty of others in the mix.
Boulton, Green, Lugo, Ireland, Ware and plenty of others a big chance. That’s the great thing about pro running.

If you have a problem with the quality of the race why don’t you run. Also say hi to coach Todd for me 😊 I doubt he approves of this continual rubbish posting from you 🙄

I don’t think Bill runs in the Gifts anymore Tim. Read in another thread his last Stawell run was 07. Are you implying your buddy is one of Todd’s older athletes?

Yes that is right tim, that is the great thing about pro running, yeah should be few contenders, mainly the ones that you mentioned, excited for a good weekend of racing. Especially looking forward to watching the 300m, should be good.

Keep barking up the wrong tree Tim, you take things to personally, I’ll check your odds at the bookie, Ran well at rye and improving with every run. Wish you the best, please stop biting the bait and let us tip. Now to put the kids to bed, it’s past their bed time.

Surely the powers to be wont fall for the old W'bool trick again.

Once bitten twice shy I would have thought.

Let the runners make up their own minds if they want to run and show support to the Clubs that go to all the trouble to put the meetings on.

Interesting reading.... Not your finest moment here Tim, anyway to the racing. Bill this is not a 1v1 week with tim and Chris, and this race should be a page turner. I am probably looking elsewhere from the obvious ones.
Finalist:
Hugh Hoffman
simon jackson
maki Loukeris

winner: Jack Boulton

St Albans has thrown some very good races at us. Any final under lights looks good, maybe that is why we have had some good finals.

J Boulton - 6m 9% - Boulton is good. His underage times are very good. His dad knows a thing or two about racing so it is intriguing what he will do. Does he let Jack take a win and a shot at a Stawell final or does he grind his mark out a little more this year and take a win early next season? Time will tell. Final, should be top three.

A Green - 6.75m 18% - Green ran well at Rye, he finished behind two good runners. He should finish amongst it this week. Will he wait one more week? Top three

R Lugo - 8m 9% - Those little legs seem to be going better than ever. I thought he would have been out of it after his big win last year but I feel that he is now capable of running the same times off less of a mark. Not sure he will want this one though, maybe he is another who will wait one more week. Final.

M Burleigh - 9m 9% - Burleigh took a win last week at Rye and did it well enough to make me think that he is still a chance. His Summer has been very good so far and one would have to think that he is a chance every time he steps on the track. I can see him in the final but I feel that he wont win. Final.

T Rosen 14.75m / P Hughes 15.5m - 16% - I know that many will have voted for Rosen here but Hughes is dangerous off this mark. He has won gifts before from around this mark and he turns up fit to race every week. I would not be surprised if he snuck into the final but think he is not quite there at the bigger races anymore. Rosen ran well at Rye but he is not quite in the form that will have him run away with a race. He will have to grind this one out and get a little luck on a good surface in his lane. He will be better for the run and will get back on the podium soon, this season. Final at best.

See you there
