Great field lining up for the Rye Gift. This is always a great meeting and I hope the track has coped alright with the weather. Usually only two semi finals so the competition for one of these spots is going to be interesting. Let's see what the poll says.

Simon Jackson 7.25m / Stuart Rooke 7.25m 13% - Action Jackson was at his very best at Maryborough and showed that age is no barrier. He beat home his poll partner and may find it a little harder this week but will be in the mix for a final. Rooke had a crack at a classic and came up just short. What will be interesting is to see if he wants the .75m available or will he wait for another classic event? I think he should take a win somewhere this season and build again for next. His coach is very astute and knows how to get the best out of his athletes when it counts. Final and placing.

Tim Rosen 13m / Scott Rowsell 13m 9% - The Man did not have his best day at Castlemaine. I have not seen him break very often. Maybe we should have a new name for him - 'Dancer'? We have talked about how much he has improved. I would expect that if he is fit he features in a final. I also feel that he is after something a little more substantial than Rye. Someone may pinch this from him for the bonus and a nice little purse but he should go close. Rowsell will not beat The Lord of the Gifts of levels. Votes here are for The Man.

Lots of voting but only two options had the required percentage. Either these are the best chances or people just do not know and have spread their votes. I am expecting someone else to feature prominently but wont throw them completely under the eyes of the handicapper and chief steward just yet.

Hard to pick that one considering he wasn't listed in the released version of the handicaps.

I think they should be more professional and release the heats before the day so that mistakes like these don't happen. People will be happier knowing the fields and this won't deter people from racing because people have paid their money.
