Rye Gift 30 years - from the Age archives.
2nd place in the 400m Frontmarkers was a huge run by all accounts. Came from last on the turn, 8 deep on the bend, got knocked down six times, got up and flew home to just miss.......then again, perhaps my memory has faded a bit....
AND has it really been 30 years  since "Knotty" won the Rye 1600m Fronties?

PC in charge

The Age
Monday 9th January 1984

Police constable Adrian Scott took control at the Rye athletics carnival on Saturday when he flashed home to win the Hillview Quarries 120 metres Gift at the R J Rowley Reserve.

Scott came home in 12.31sec, one-hundreth of a second ahead of Damien O’Donnell with John DeCoite third.

Scotsman George McNeil looked the likely winner with 30 metres to go, but hobbled across the finish line after injuring his right hamstring.
