Whitney, who won the Gift and 300m at Richmond, claimed the race in a time of 12.99 metres, off a mark of 6.75m on a damp track.

Whitney, a Ray Quarrell-trained runner, upstaged fellow Hobart runner Alec Eiszle, with Bonnie McCarthy running third.

2013 Stawell Gift winner Andrew Robinson placed fourth, off a mark of 2.75m.

Western Australian cyclist Stephen Hall, one of the backmarkers from 50m, claimed the Rosebery Wheel with former Ulverstone cyclist Luke Ockerby second and Andrew Hinkley third.

Gowrie Park axeman Kody Steers claimed the 400mm Tasmanian underhand championship.

In the rock drilling singles championship, Rosebery's Colin Fellows won his ninth title, from Victorian Adrian Williams.
