Richard has developed some of Australia’s top middle distance runners including: Jeff Risely, Kaila McKnight, Haley Field (nee McGregor), Victoria Mitchell, Jordan Williamsz & Duer Yoa. Richard also has a squad of talented up and coming runners, which he currently works with at the Knox athletics club in Melbourne.

Rod Griffin

Coaching for about 30 years.

Level 3 AA Middle Distance Coach

Coached Collis Birmingham from 1997 - 2008

Coached Victoria Mitchell

Current coach of Duer Yoa.

Coached a number of Australian Representatives with 3 junior runners in the Australian team at the World Cross Country Championships in Poland this year. Also Coach of the Australian team of the World Cross Country Team in Poland.

Coach of Australian team at Chiba Ekiden 2012.

Manager of Australia University Cross Country Teams in 2004 & 2008.

Coached numerous Australian and Victorian Champions - predominantly juniors.

Peter Fortune

Has coached many Australian athletes in sprints, middle and long distance, hurdles and jumps and provided dedicated service to the sport as a coach in both voluntary and professional capacities.

‘Fort’ as he is affectionately called, is perhaps best known for his successful athletic partnership with Catherine Freeman, but he has been coaching for over forty years and has previously worked with athletes like national representatives Phil Wood, Gary Minihan, Susan Andrews, Lee Naylor, Kris McCarthy, Lauren Hewitt and Tamsyn Lewis.

Having worked initially and mainly in Melbourne, Fort was the VIS sprints coach for around ten years but is now based in Tasmania. In both cases his professional contributions, in addition to his ongoing voluntary work now and over the years, has been above and beyond the call of duty.

Kind Regards,

Jill Taylor
