Kim Collins left out of St. Kitts and Nevis’ team for Moscow 2013

Kim Collins, the fastest St. Kitts and Nevis national, has been left out of the country’s team for the Moscow 2013 World Championships.

The St. Kitts & Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA), on Tuesday, released its six-member team for the August 10-18 Championships with Collins, who just over a week ago ran a national record of 9.97secs.

Collins, days later followed up the record run with 9.99secs, only his third sub-10 seconds clockings in his more than decade long career.

Collins, the 2001 World 100m champion, won bronze in the same event at the last Championships in Daegu, South Korea.

Evris Huggins, Public Relation Officer of the St. Kitts & Nevis Amateur Athletic Association, said Collins was not selected because he “did not meet the selection criteria as outlined by the SKNAAA World Championships in Athletics Standards.”

A copy of our standards which clearly outline the selection procedures is attached here.

Meanwhile, six athletes and two officials were selected to represent the federation at the 2013 IAAF World Championships in Moscow.

Antoine Adams, who was part of St. Kitts’ and Nevis’ bronze medal winning 4x100m team at the last World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, heads the list of six athletes.

Adams, the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) 200m champion, will run both sprints in Moscow.

The other members of the team are:
Jason Rogers – Athlete – 100m, 4X100m Relay
Lestrod Roland – Athlete – 200m, 4X100m Relay
Brijesh Lawrence – Athlete – 4X100m Relay
Allistar Clarke – Athlete – 4X100m Relay
Delwayne Delaney – Athlete – 4X100m Relay

“I am very pleased with the selections made,” Said SKNAAA President, Glenville Jeffers.

“It is a good mix of experience and young talent and the chemistry between them is great which is vital in meets like the upcoming World Championships. We are expecting outstanding performances in the sprints. The Executive has confidence in the relay team returning to the finals.”

Iston Williams is the team leader and Lonzo Wilkerson, the Head Coach.
